Tram to Plaszow

Two days ago, in a big chaos and heavy rain, the first passenger tram arrived at new Kraków tram balloon loop Mały Płaszów. The new tram route was finally open, and the next day, the target public transport organization has been introduced. In this post, I’d like to describe the history, construction and opening the new tram route to Płaszów.

Another reparation season finished

Kraków constantly improves its tram communication service. Last year was very calm, as the people had to get some rest after almost three years of massive constant reparations, but in Winter, the workers came back to build a completely new route to Płaszów and reparate two streets. These works are almost finished and we can admire the final effects.

Cracow tram network in 1939

I have recently bought two books about Polish trams. One of them describes the history of Częstochowa network, the second one, called “Krakowskie tramwaje” is dedicated to Kraków network. It contains lots of fascinating photos, as well as lots of useful information – everything in nearly 500 pages. Anyway, this material allowed me to create a map of Cracow tram network in 1939.

Tram network in Cracow

This post is addressed to the public transport fans. I would like to write here about the tram network in the city I study right now, Cracow. I decided to start such series of posts, watching at myself when I try to find some useful info about a transport system in a particular foreign city in the language I understand, but it is not always possible. I hope this will help a bit the others in the similar situation from other countries.
